ADVENTURES IN FILM

Cadillac Records

What do Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones all have in common? They drew on (some say stole) the work of the Mississippi Delta bluesmen and other artists who recorded on the Chess label in the early 1950s. This movie tells the story of label founder Leonard Chess and his interactions with such seminal talents as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, songwriter Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, and Etta James (played by Beyoncé), now members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Chess gave them big Cadillacs but did these artists get their just due? Anyone interested in the roots of rock'n'roll needs to know this story.
